Each project will be evaluated based on the following criteria.

1. 卓越设计——250分

Project meets the objectives for use and combines aesthetic beauty with the functional design, 无论大小. 建筑展示了细节的优雅, as well as excellence and ingenuity in addressing technical considerations such as acoustics, 耐火性, 结构, 包络性能.

Project demonstrates innovative use of wood in the building typology, function and design.  Consideration will be given to the expression of contemporary architectural styles where wood products are used extensively in any variety of exposed or non-visible applications.

Wood has many attributes that make it well suited to sustainable and 有弹性的 design. 它是天然的，可再生的, 是否比其他结构材料的碳影响更低, 而且经久耐用, 适应性强且可重用. It can also contribute to thermal performance and biophilic design. Projects should demonstrate how wood contributed to some or all of these principles in conjunction with other efforts to achieve a high-performing structure.

WoodWorks takes inspiration from the American Institute of Architects’ Framework for Design Excellence, which includes a set of guiding principles to inform progress toward a zero-carbon, 公平的, 有弹性的, 健康的建筑环境.

This section provides an opportunity for project teams to elaborate on how the project impacts the community, 它的文化意义, and the use of wood in non-traditional building types or sizes. Consideration will also be given to projects where wood has been used to increase cost effectiveness and/or meet time constraints or other project objectives.

Submissions will be evaluated based on the criteria above by an independent jury of professionals representing architecture, 工程, 建设, 和/或开发(AEC+D).

• Any member of the AEC+D team may submit a project; however, design awards will be issued to the primary architecture firm.
• Projects must use wood as a dominant 结构 material (walls, floors, frame and/or roof).

• Projects and their architecture firm must be located in the United States.
